CLAIM SPECIALIST (MARINE)

We are seeking an experienced Marine Claim Specialist to handle a portfolio of ocean and inland marine claims. You will be responsible for the accurate investigation, coverage analysis, and resolution of claims related to cargo, hull, liability, and marine-related losses. The ideal candidate is a decisive professional with deep knowledge of marine insurance and admiralty law.

Responsibilities:

• Investigate, evaluate, and resolve marine claims (e.g., cargo damage/loss, hull damage, marine liability) from first notice to final settlement.
• Analyze marine policies (e.g., Hull & Machinery, Protection & Indemnity, Cargo) to determine coverage, exclusions, and limits.
• Coordinate and manage surveys, experts, and vendors for cause and damage determination.
• Apply knowledge of admiralty law, general average, salvage, and the Carriage of Goods by Sea Act (COGSA).
• Negotiate settlements with claimants, assureds, lawyers, and other insurers.
• Manage claims in litigation, working closely with appointed legal counsel.
• Maintain accurate and timely claim file documentation in accordance with company and regulatory standards.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1+ year of experience handling marine claims.
• Proven expertise in marine policy interpretation and claims handling procedures.
• Strong understanding of marine terminology, international trade, and logistics.
• Excellent investigation, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Active Insurance Adjuster License(s), or ability to obtain.
